Nearly six month have passed since our teacher, Mrs. Yakey, has returned from Japan. Nearly every week since her return she has taught us something new about Japan. We have eaten Japanese food, played with Japanese toys, written haiku, practiced writing hiragana and katagana letters, and learned about schools in Japan. During the Spring Open House at Northview, our class sponsored an "Evening in Japan." Over 100 parents and students stopped by to sample Japanese food, listen to Japanese music, examine Japanes artifacts, and watch a Power Point presentation.

The grand finale of our study of Japan included a field trip to the Indianapolis Museum of Art to learn about Asian art. Following that interesting tour we had a delicious lunch at Sakura Japanese Restaurant and then finished our outing by shopping at Sakura Market and Grocery.

We are very grateful that Mrs. Yakey traveled to Japan as we all benefited from her experience!
